Dubrovnik’s newest attraction, the cable car takes visitors from just outside the old town to the peak of Mount Srdj (405 m). It has two carriages carrying up to 30 persons each – a little squashed but the ride only lasts 3 minutes. From the top you get sweeping views over the fortified old town, the sea and islands. There’s a viewing platform with telescopes, a snack bar, restaurant and souvenir shop. It began operating in July 2010, replacing an old system from 1969, which had been out of use for almost two decades.
Price advice:
Adult return 73 kunas, one-way 44 kunas; children under 4 years old free, children 4-12 years old half-price.
Expert tips:
Buy a one-way ticket to ride the cable car up, then hike back down to the old town following the clearly marked footpath.
Alternatively, go up late-afternoon and stay to watch the sun setting over the sea.
