Expert review of Sea Point Promenade
Although I no longer live on this side of the mountain (in Cape Town, you always describe your bearings according to the mountain), I do try and make it to the Sea Point Promenade or 'Prom' as often as possible. A run along it next to the sea is invigorating (and there are no hills) and it's a fabulous place to go for a sunset or Sunday stroll. You'll see people of all ages, runners, speed walkers, dawdlers and couples smooching on benches, and kids love racing along it on their bikes. There are lovely green lawns where dogs bound about and sporty types play football, there are play facilities for kids and, best of all, there's the pool, with an Olympic-sized salt water facility and spectacular sea views and always a parade of suntanned pensioners making the most of their days.
There is no cost for the prom. The Sea Point Pool entrance fee is 15 rand for adults and 7 rand for children.
