Expert review of Noordhoek Beach
The name of this beach means ‘North Corner’, though technically it’s in the southern reaches of the peninsula. Reached by driving along the impressive Chapman's Peak Drive , over Ou Kaapse Weg mountain pass or through the suburb of Fish Hoek - this expanse of white sand and turquoise waters is a sight to behold, however you decide to get there. Enjoy a leisurely stroll or if you’re equine oriented, arrange an excursion with Imhoff Equestrian Centre (Imhoff Farm, M65, Kommetjie; 082 7741191; www.horseriding.co.za) or Sleepy Hollow Horse Riding (Sleepy Hollow Lane, Noordhoek; 021 789 2341; www.sleepyhollowhorseriding.co.za) and explore from the saddle. There’s a small complex of shops and a restaurant close to the beach - you’ll want to stop at The Red Herring (Beach Road, Noordhoek; 021 789 1783; www.theredherring.co.za) for a post-walk pizza and a beer.
Expect to pay 400 Rand for a two hour ride.
