Expert review of Konoba Ekvinocijo
Hidden away between the seaward city walls and the cathedral, this family-run eatery opened in 2000. It serves simple Dalmatian meat and seafood dishes, and is especially popular with American cultural visitors. In case you were wondering, ekvinocijo means equinox.
While reading the menu, you’ll be given a complimentary glass of homemade rakija (a potent spirit). Choose from soup (the lobster soup is reputedly excellent), freshly caught fish, grilled squid, charcoal-grilled steaks and salads.
Try the Ekvinocijo plate – a selection of the day’s fresh fish, served with blitva sa krumpirom (potatoes and Swiss chard with garlic and olive oil).
Relaxing and peaceful, it's a little removed from the more touristy spots, in a narrow side street with tables and wicker chairs on a small leafy outdoor terrace.
Expect a warm and friendly reception.
Hidden away between the cathedral and the seaward city walls, it's near the Amoret Apartments.
Expect to pay around 500 kuna for a two-course meal for two people, with wine.
